Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Zefika (“we”) handles your information in TabTasu, our iOS app, including its Share extension (“the app”).
Summary
- No account is needed. The app never asks for your name or email address.
- Tabs, groups, browsing history, search history, bookmarks, and sign-ins are stored on your device and never sent to our servers.
- To improve the app and show ads, usage data, device information, and similar information is sent to Google services. The URL and content of the page you are viewing are never passed on for ads.
- You can choose whether to allow tracking. All features work if you don’t allow it.
- We receive content from you only when you choose to send feedback or report a broken site.
Information stored on your device
The app stores the following information in its own area on your device. None of it is sent to us.
- Groups (name, color, Browsing Mode, and Display Protection setting)
- Tabs (name, home URL, current URL, page title, page state, and thumbnail)
- Browsing history (URLs and titles), search history (search terms), and recently closed tabs
- Bookmarks, favorite icons, and snippets
- Site data such as cookies, including your sign-in status
- Your settings and scheduled Tab Reminder notifications
Depending on your iOS settings, this information may be included in device backups, such as iCloud Backup.
When you send a URL to the app from the Share sheet, it is kept temporarily in an area on your device shared by the app and its extension, and deleted once the app imports it.
Text you use in Translate and Character Count, and the camera image used to scan QR codes, are not saved. Translation happens on your device, and the text is not sent anywhere. iOS downloads the language data used for translation.
Differences between Browsing Modes
- Standard: Site data is stored on your device and shared among Standard groups.
- Group Only: Site data is stored on your device separately for each group.
- Private: Site data is not kept on your device and is deleted when the app quits or when you switch to another mode. Browsing history, search history, and recently closed tabs are not saved. Tab layout, URLs, titles, thumbnails, snippets, and bookmarks are saved.
What Private leaves out is site data and history. What the sites you visit receive, and how ads and analytics work, stay the same as in other modes.
Communication with websites and search engines
- As in any browser, pages you open are loaded directly from those sites. Information sent to a site, such as your IP address, cookies, and what you enter, is handled under that site’s own policies.
- Search terms are sent directly to the search engine you choose in Settings (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, or Ecosia). They do not pass through our servers.
- Search suggestions come from tabs, browsing history, and search history on your device. No suggestions are fetched from the internet.
- Favorite icons are fetched directly from each site. No third-party icon service is used, and no cookies are sent with these requests.
Information we receive
Content reaches us from the app only when you choose to send it with one of the following features.
Feedback
Send Feedback sends the following:
- The text you enter
- The date and time sent
- Your device model, iOS version, and app version
Your email address, the URL of the page you are viewing, and screenshots are not sent.
Broken site reports
Report Broken Site in the browser menu sends the following:
- The URL of the page you report, without the query after “?”, the part after “#”, or any user name and password in the URL
- The problem type you choose, and the details you enter (optional)
- Whether the page was shown as the mobile or desktop version, and the group’s Browsing Mode
- The date and time sent, your device model, iOS version, and app version
The URL is shown on screen before you send the report. Group names, tab names, page titles and content, cookies, and screenshots are not sent. Reports do not go to the site’s owner.
How we store and use it
- It is stored in Cloud Firestore, part of Firebase provided by Google.
- We use it to investigate and fix issues in the app, and to improve how pages look and work.
- It contains no ID that identifies your account or device. Please do not include information that could identify you in the text.
- We keep it without a set time limit and delete it when it is no longer needed.
- We do not reply individually to in-app feedback or reports. If you need a reply, email us at the address below.
- To ask us to delete something you sent, email us the date and time you sent it and what it said. We will find and delete the record.
- We do not share it with third parties except as required by law.
Email inquiries
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to handle your inquiry.
Third-party services
The app includes the following Google services. They collect information directly through the app and handle it under Google’s privacy policy. Because Google runs its services on servers around the world, information may be processed outside your country.
Firebase Analytics
- Purpose: To understand how the app is used and improve it
- Main information: Usage such as app launches and screen views, device model and OS, app version, approximate region estimated from your IP address, a per-installation identifier, and the advertising identifier (if you allow tracking)
Firebase Crashlytics
- Purpose: To find the cause of crashes
- Main information: A record of what the app was doing when it crashed, device model and OS, app version, and an installation identifier
Firebase App Check and Firebase Remote Config
- Purpose: To confirm that feedback and reports come from the genuine app (using Apple’s App Attest and DeviceCheck), and to let you know about required updates
- Main information: Information showing that your device and the app are genuine, app version, and an installation identifier
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
- Purpose: To show ads, measure their performance, and manage ad consent (using Google’s User Messaging Platform)
- Main information: The advertising identifier (if you allow tracking), IP address, device and OS information, ad views and taps, and your consent choices
The app never passes the URL or content of the page you are viewing to Google for ads. How long Google services keep information, and how it is deleted, is governed by Google’s policies.
- Google Privacy Policy

- Privacy and Security in Firebase
Ads and tracking
- The app is free to use and shows ads.
- Only if you allow the iOS App Tracking Transparency request do we use the advertising identifier to show more relevant ads and measure their performance. All features work if you don’t allow it. Ads are shown either way.
- You can change your tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- In regions where consent is required for ads, such as the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, Google’s consent form lets you choose how your data is used for ads. You can change your choice in the app under Settings > Advertising and Privacy. This item appears only in regions where consent is required.
Device features
The app uses the following features only after you allow them.
- Camera: To scan QR codes. Images are neither saved nor sent.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode: To confirm it’s you when opening a group whose Display Protection is set to Authenticate to Show. iOS performs authentication, and the app never receives biometric data.
- Location: To pass your location to a web page when the page asks for it. The app neither saves nor sends your location. iOS keeps your choice for each site on your device.
- Add to Photos: To save page images and screenshots to Photos. The app does not read your photos.
- Notifications: For Tab Reminder notifications. Notifications are scheduled on your device, and our servers are not used.
You can change these permissions at any time in the app’s section of iOS Settings.
How to delete your information
- Browsing history: On the history screen, choose All time, Today and yesterday, Today, or The last hour.
- Search history: Use Delete All in the search history shown while you type a search, for each group.
- Site data for a group: In the group list, open a group’s … menu and choose Delete This Group’s Site Data. For Standard groups, the item is Delete Standard Groups’ Site Data, which deletes site data for all Standard groups.
- All site data: Delete All Site Data and Cache in Settings deletes site data, cache, thumbnails, and favorite icons for all groups. Groups, tabs, bookmarks, browsing history, and search history remain.
- Groups: Deleting a group also deletes its tabs, browsing history, search history, recently closed tabs, site data, and the snippets and bookmarks used only in that group.
- The app: Deleting the app removes all information stored on your device. Copies in device backups remain until you delete those backups.
Security
The storage for feedback and reports accepts only the creation of new records from the genuine app. The app cannot read or change records. Only our administrators can view them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always available on this page, and the “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent change.
